Hui in Four:
Hui Chen is Director, Customer Data & Global Sales Analytics at Wyndham Hotels & Resorts and has worked at Wyndham for almost 7 years
He has been a power user of Amperity, helping define the Customer 360, determining the attributes for advanced segmentation, and segmenting away for analytics and activation purposes
Hui was able to deliver a segment of non-members powering an email aiming to convert non-members into members, an audience that was unreachable before Amperity
In the before-times, Hui would have been your go to for a recommendation of hip bars and restaurants in Manhattan.
What’s the coolest thing you’ve been able to do with data for Wyndham Hotels & Resorts?
Not even kidding, I would say implementing Amperity and activating it. Being able to market to whoever we want in the Wyndham customer base is still a crazy concept to me.
Assuming you’ve saved time cleaning up and accessing data, what have you been able to do instead?
With the access to data that Amperity provides for us, there’s no end to the amount of analytics that we unlocked! I’ve been spending a lot of time understanding and refining all of the different data points that we have access to in the Customer 360 and also going on small educational roadshows for different teams within the organization.
Since implementing your initial Customer 360, what’s next? What do you want to do with your increased capabilities?
We are currently working on getting connected to all of our marketing partners and systems such as Google, Facebook, and Adobe Audience Manager that we can send Amperity segments to, really optimizing the activation process so that it can be as streamlined as possible.
What is your favorite feature or capability in Amperity and what do you use it for?
Hands down, Data Explorer. The fact that it’s right next to the segment editor is a life saver for me since I hate memorizing exact field names and what tables they’re in. I can just go to it while writing a query and copy and paste right into my query without having to ever leave the screen.
Time for some NYC recs for when things get closer to normal! What is your favorite:
Restaurant in Manhattan for celebrating: ABC Kitchen. The food and ambience there are phenomenal.
Rooftop bar in Manhattan: 230 Fifth. When the weather gets cold, they put up these igloos over the heat lamps and give you blankets.
Coffee shop in Manhattan: Any Blue Bottle shop.
Under-rated foodie spot in Manhattan: Ichiran. There are so many ramen choices in Manhattan, but this one is my absolute favorite. Straight from Japan and people sometimes say the quality isn’t the same, but I disagree.
Thanks Hui!
